Therapy Services

Relationships hold immense significance in our lives, yet they can also present considerable challenges. Relationship counselling allows couples to take the time and space to reflect on their behavioural patterns.

Sessions create a safe, non-judgmental environment where partners can explore their connection, free from the daily pressures of personal and professional influences. This setting facilitates open communication and a deeper understanding of each other’s thoughts and feelings.

The process is incredibly beneficial for those seeking to resolve their differences, or for couples looking to strengthen an already solid bond. It can also help people conclude a troubled relationship in a way that ensures they don’t take the same issues into their next relationship.

Couples Therapy

Effective communication is essential for healthy relationships. However, how partners interpret each other’s words is often influenced by underlying factors, leading to misunderstandings and feelings of alienation. Recognising that love alone can feel insufficient, feeling heard, and being open to change are crucial for improving relationships.

Today’s couples face significant pressures that can strain their connections. The rising cost of living affects young couples trying to establish themselves, while long-term partners may grapple with caring for elderly parents or raising children amid social media challenges. These factors can disrupt intimacy and shared joy. Understanding ourselves and our partners better can pave the way for healthier relationships, benefiting not just the couple but everyone around them.

Seeking therapy can be daunting, but taking that first step signifies a commitment to personal care and the well-being of your partnership. It also ensures that you are providing a healthy model for your children.

Sometimes, couples pursue therapy to facilitate a constructive separation, ultimately creating healthier future relationships. Engaging in this process is a proactive way to ensure growth and understanding in all aspects of relational life.

My therapeutic approach integrates various techniques and methodologies, rooted in my background in conflict resolution, which is based on Gestalt principles. This school of thought emphasises understanding human experiences as holistic perceptions rather than merely a collection of parts. During my couples therapy training, I explored the works of many renowned couples therapy experts such as David Schnarch, Gabor Maté, Pia Mellody, and Esther Perel. I cannot recommend highly enough the groundbreaking authorship of Terry Real whose conference ‘Living Love’ I attended in Orlando in early 2025. He has been my biggest influence to date.

“Family dysfunction rolls down from generation to generation, like a fire in the woods, taking down everything in its path until one person in one generation has the courage to turn and face the flames. That person brings peace to their ancestors and spares the children that follow.” Terry Real
